The Need for Emergency Repairs

  • Winter Storm began on February 15, 2021.

  • Houston Public Works estimated 25% of all Houston water customers experienced a leak on their property during the Winter Storm.

  • The neighbors Rebuilding Together serves are unable to repair their homes because they are not insured or are underinsured.

RT Response

  • RTH began recovery on February 18, 2021 by offering free emergency plumbing repairs to the families in our network, plus all Veterans in Harris County and our Community Revitalization neighborhoods, Second Ward and Independence Heights.

  • Repairs were expanded to all low income homeowners in Harris County in March.

  • More than 252 low-income homeowners have received plumbing repairs to stop leaks and restore water service; damaged materials have been removed and replaced.
