CITGO and Rebuilding Together Partner
to Help with Pipe Damage and Restore Water

Houston, TX – March 16, 2021 The historic damage caused by the winter freeze left numerous homeowners with damaged pipes and no running water three weeks after the incredible run of cold weather. CITGO Petroleum Corporation and Rebuilding Together are once again joining forces to help struggling Houstonians recover from the devastating damage caused by the extreme cold weather. Specifically, CITGO will assist at-risk seniors and military veteran homeowners in the Greater Houston area repair broken water pipes.

“We are grateful to our longtime partner CITGO for stepping forward just days after this unprecedented winter storm to support homeowners in need,” said Christine Holland, CEO, Rebuilding Together. “These last few weeks, we’ve witnessed countless acts of neighbors helping neighbors. In that spirit, we are focused on making essential repairs that will help people in Houston remain safely in their homes.”

This is not the first time that Rebuilding Together Houston and CITGO have worked together to help Houstonians in need. This partnership began in 2017 with a Hurricane Harvey outreach program which focused on rebuilding Independence Heights after the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Harvey’s flood waters. Today, CITGO and Rebuilding Together clearly understand that the work caused by disasters is never done. This type of long-term partnership serves to address part of that ongoing challenge.

CITGO President and CEO Carlos Jordá added, “We are Houstonians who witnessed and also experienced in our own homes the challenges related to this unprecedented winter storm. That’s why we are here to support critical response organizations like Rebuilding Together that can mobilize quickly to help alleviate the severe hardships our communities are facing. Texans are resilient and ready to do what is needed to get our neighbors back on their feet.”
