Rebuilding Together Houston teamed up with ExxonMobil to restore 100-year-old home of local veteran

This marked the 400th home ExxonMobil volunteers have repaired in collaboration with RTH

(Houston, TX) Volunteers from ExxonMobil worked with the nonprofit Rebuilding Together Houston (RTH) to restore the home of Anthony Pradia, a US Army veteran whose house sustained significant damage during Hurricane Harvey.

The Northside home, originally built by Pradia’s grandfather in 1920, has been passed down through their family. RTH contractors replaced the roof and made critical repairs to electrical, plumbing and flooring. ExxonMobil volunteers replaced siding, installed entry handrails, replaced storm doors, and painted the exterior. The volunteers worked on three Saturdays from October 7th to the 21st.

This is the 400th house ExxonMobil has teamed up with RTH to restore since 1982. To reach this impressive milestone, 8,000 ExxonMobil volunteers have spent over 100,000 hours to contribute to the success of RTH home repairs.

ABOUT REBUILDING TOGETHER HOUSTON:

Rebuilding Together Houston is the only organization in the Houston/Harris County area to provide hundreds of families with home repairs annually. In the last 41 years, we have served more than 14,750 neighbors at no cost to them. We believe everyone has a right to a safe, healthy, and resilient home that protects them against disaster. The low-income homeowners we serve are in danger of potential displacement and homelessness without our services. We enlist community volunteers and licensed contractors to repair the homes of seniors, U.S. Military Veterans, and working families in need. Our work improves the safety and structural integrity of homes that are passed from generation to generation, helping to preserve the character of Houston neighborhoods by keeping families in communities that they helped to build.

Together with our corporate supporters and community partners, our mission is Repairing Homes, Revitalizing Communities, and Rebuilding Lives.
